Post Shoot Reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos of your first 4 prompts (Square, Metal, Happy, Bowie)

There was a struggle with the Happy prompt photo, as it was difficult to shoot with a distracting background in the back (there were windows and doors etc.) The Metal and Bowie prompt were the easiest to shoot and came out pleasant.

The most difficult photo was the Square prompt. I wasn't able to get a fully symmetrical shot, so symmetrical balance was not conveyed properly.

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.

I thought most about how to convey focus in the photos, specifically by eliminating distracting backgrounds. Getting rid of brightness or contrasting colors in the background.

For example, for the Happy prompt, there were shiny windows, doors, the red floor, and the sunlight brightening portions of ground. There were too many distractions for Rule of Thirds to have full effect on focus, so I combined Simplicity with the photo by putting the subject near a pillar and zoomed/went closer to the subject's face.

I tilted the camera in order to get the pillar's background. Then, I shifted the camera to execute Rule of Thirds, and this resulted in a really pleasant photo to look at.
3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
I would redo Square prompt and find another subject that is on the ground, or try again with a steadier hand.
(The subject was on the ceiling, aiming the camera upwards was harder,  and attempting balance was hard.)
4. What things would you do the same?

I would still use the rule of Balance, despite the change in subject.

5. Are you interested in shooting those same prompts again, why?

No, I feel content with all of the prompt shoots, except for Square prompt because of the photos tilted angle.
